  1. Bert
    • Origin:

English, diminutive of Albert and Bertram
    • Description:

A once-popular nickname for Albert and Bertram now being polished up by hip Brits, but still hibernating in the Land of Nerd over here.
  2. Clementine
    • Origin:

French feminine version of Clement, Latin
    • Meaning:

      "mild, merciful"
    • Description:

Clementine is a Nameberry favorite that broke back into the US Top 1000 in 2014 after more than half a century off the list.
  3. Ernie
    • Origin:

Variation of Ernest, English from German
    • Meaning:

      "serious, resolute"
    • Description:

Can Ernie shed the rubber ducky association and make its way onto the vintage revivals list? Years ago we may have said no, but celebrity chef Stephanie Izard made a strong case for Ernie when she gave the name to her son in 2016.
  4. Harry
    • Origin:

      Diminutive of Henry
    • Meaning:

      "estate ruler"
    • Description:

Harry is the medieval English form of Henry, which derived from the Germanic name Heimrich, meaning "estate ruler." Harry was the nickname of all eight King Henrys; it is also a diminutive of Harold and Harrison.
  5. Henrietta
    • Origin:

      Feminine variation of Henry
    • Meaning:

      "estate ruler"
    • Description:

Despite a return to such feminizations of male names as Josephine, Clementine, and Theodora, starchy Henrietta has not made it into that group. Still, if you look hard enough, you'll see that Henrietta has the same vintage charm.
  6. Heavy D
    • Julia
      • Origin:

        Latin
      • Meaning:

        "youthful or sky father"
      • Description:

Julia was an ancient Roman imperial name given to females in the house of a Julius, as in Caesar. Its origin is shrouded in history, but possible roots include Latin iuvenis, meaning "youthfu"; Greek ioulos, meaning "downy-bearded"; or Jovis, a form of Jupiter, which means "sky father".
    • Lil Kim
      • LucyFurr
        • Meghan
          • Origin:

            Variation of Megan
          • Meaning:

            "pearl"
          • Description:

Megan was one of the first trendy names to spawn lots of spelling variations: This is one of the most tenacious and confusing. But with the ascendance of British Prince Harry's fiancee Meghan Markle, Meghan with an h (after the g and before the a) may soon become more familiar and more popular.
        • Mannie Fresh
          • Miss Hissy Pants
            • Oliver
              • Origin:

                Latin
              • Meaning:

                "olive tree or elf army"
              • Description:

Oliver is an international star, ranking near the top of the charts in the US and throughout the English-speaking world, along with a host of European and Latin American countries, from Norway to Chile, Slovenia to Switzerland.
            • Santino
              • Origin:

                Italian
              • Meaning:

                "little saint"
              • Description:

A name introduced here by The Godfather: James Caan played the anything-but-saintly Santino "Sonny" Corleone, and comedian Adam Carolla used it for his son.
            • Tabatha
              • The Countess
                • Zoe
                  • Origin:

                    Greek
                  • Meaning:

                    "life"
                  • Description:

Zoe is one of those surprising names that has been on the Top 1000 nearly every year since 1880, but it's only since the turn of this century that it's ranked in the Top 100.
